SPII (Solar power for Information and Independence) Inc. was founded in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2007 by automotive engineering technical specialist Itzik Henig.

Since then SPII has developed a solar energy based device that meets the basic electrical needs of a single household.

The unit produces sufficient low-load electricity for basic lighting, radio, cellphone charging etc, as well as providing health independence by incorporating an onboard water purification system.

SPII's undertaking is to address the need of an estimated 1.6 billion people with household incomes of roughly $2 a day that do not have access to electricty and safe potable water.
